Our Facility Management Team

Daphne Armie

Clinical Manager

Armie Abalos

Armie Abalos, our Clinical Manager, is originally from the Philippines. She brings over six years of experience in hospital, community and aged care settings to her Clinical Manager role. Armie worked as a registered nurse at Avonlea for four years prior to her promotion to Clinical Manager, thus bringing invaluable in-depth knowledge of our residents and staff to this key leadership role.

Armie says,  “Since nursing in aged care, I have been fascinated by and curious about caring for those with dementia. I enjoy learning and sharing therapeutic techniques and strategies that would help provide the most effective individualised care to people with dementia. I passionately believe in the right of each individual to be treated with dignity and respect, and to the best possible personalised care to maintain their quality of life.”

Armie is responsible for ensuring the delivery of person-centred care to each and every resident in the home. She does this by maintaining open and honest communication with the resident, their family/whanau, and other members who form part of our wider team, such as GPs, podiatrists, dieticians and physiotherapists. Armie provides guidance, mentoring and leadership to the staff team in the planning and delivery of care, facilitating  training and education to staff, and providing supervision and mentoring to the registered nursing team.

Operations Coordinator

Daphne Abellanosa

Daphne Abellanosa, our Operations Coordinator at Avonlea Dementia Care, is a qualified and experienced Registered Nurse back in the Philippines. She also brings qualifications and experience in healthcare management to her role, as well as three years’ experience here at Avonlea as a caregiver and home manager.

The role of the Operations Coordinator is to ensure the smooth running of the rest home from day to day, and to support the Clinical Manager and Registered Nurse team in any way needed. Daphne’s role is a busy, varied and challenging one, with no two days the same. Central to the role is providing leadership to our staff team, as well as working closely alongside residents and family members to provide outstanding service, communication and practical support. This includes maintaining a loving, welcoming and homely environment through oversight of the gardening, housekeeping, kitchen and laundry.  General administration makes up a large part of the day, including meetings, rosters and wages, audit compliance, quality, marketing, and regular communication with residents and their families.

Daphne’s goal is to ensure that Avonlea is a homely, friendly and safe environment for residents, family and staff, supporting people in a caring, kind and respectful way while acknowledging each individual’s needs.
