Greetings from Maja and Jhanavi
We hope that you had a lovely summer and festive season!
In December, we enjoyed hosting our Christmas family gatherings. Thank you to those of you who were able to come and help make these occasions special for your loved ones. We all loved watching the entertainers who visited doing ballroom dancing, accompanied by the piano accordion. They showed us their moves and some of the residents got up to dance while others danced in their chairs.
Over the summer our Diversional Therapists have enjoyed plenty of one-on-one time with residents. This is time for them to sit and focus on being with a resident; it’s a time that can be guided by the residents’ interests and mood, and whatever the resident feels like doing or talking about. The residents have also enjoyed aromatherapy, music appreciation, reading short stories, hand massages, wheelchair walks, gardening, quoits, skittles, balloon tennis, van outings, movies and ice creams! We enjoyed celebrating our residents, with lots of them having birthdays over the holiday period.
As the summer progressed, we enjoyed pet therapy visits. Our church services and entertainers started back up again. Lorraine has been back in to entertain our residents with her beautiful piano playing. We are delighted that she has decided to continue playing for us for another year. Castaway ukulele is back too. Their last performance went down well, with our residents jiggling and singing along to the music.
In staff news, we are fortunate to be joined by several new team members; Mereena and Joanne join us as Registered Nurses, while Ann and Ruby join us as Caregivers.
We do hope that you are able to enjoy the last of the warmer weather, and the beauty that comes with autumn.
