Avonlea Dementia Care

Our home

We invite you to experience the special character of Avonlea

Avonlea provides the following levels of care:

  • Rest Home dementia care
  • Respite rest home dementia care for short stays
  • Continuing care (Hospital)
  • Hospital dementia care

Avonlea is set in lovely gardens. There are sunny spots to sit, birds to watch and beautiful trees. Our home is comfortable and homely, with fires to sit beside in the winter and a gorgeous garden to walk through in the summer.

Residents at Avonlea enjoy the small and intimate homes with their open, inviting kitchens.

There are garden paths that interconnect with other homes. This creates a warm sense of community and residents often go and visit their neighbours at Avonlea.

Avonlea has spacious bedrooms and is particularly warm and inviting. The atmosphere is gentle, peaceful and accepting.

We have dedicated rooms available to be booked for respite care residents.

What they say about us

Testimonials

I have been very lucky to have had my husband in Avonlea for the past few years. He has gone through different stages of care in this time.

I’m Angela, the late Peter Wood’s niece. We met quite a few of your lovely staff who looked after my uncle with such wonderful care and respect. Mum, Dad and I want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts. From the moment we arrived at your facility, your staff were amazing. A real credit to you all. It was plain to see that Peter felt very comfortable with you all and that you were one big family.

We write to thank you both, and your staff, for your kind and professional care of Robin at Avonlea. Due to Robin being younger, family members and friends were mostly in full-time employment. This meant that we were often visiting at odd times of the day to fit in round work schedules. No matter what time of the day we visited, and what the routine was for that time slot, the staff were consistently respectful, patient, and fully present with the needs of residents.

I've just spent the last few days with Mum and we had a wonderful time together. I just wanted to say 'thank you'.

My Mum’s needs changed last year and we found ourselves in the very daunting situation of looking for a new rest home that was tailored to meet mums' needs. Mum moved into Avonlea in March 2010. The staff and management of Avonlea made the transition from mums' previous retirement home to her new home at Avonlea a very stress free experience for us.

They were very supportive during this time not only for mum but also for me.
